According to Saostar, Bầu Đức’s football team has sought permission from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to revert to the original name of HAGL Club, Link to the web jun88

If all goes smoothly, Bầu Đức’s LPB HAGL Club will reclaim its former name, HAGL Club. The VFF has received an official request to change the name and is currently consulting its executive committee members on the matter, with a decision expected today, July 29. The name HAGL Club has been synonymous with Vietnamese football for over two decades, deeply embedded in the hearts of millions of fans before it was changed to LPBank HAGL.\

Speaking with Saostar, VFF officials confirmed that the name change request for LPB HAGL Club is pending approval from the executive committee.

As previously mentioned, Bầu Đức’s team has formally requested to revert to the HAGL Club name.

In early November last year, the club’s name was changed to LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai (abbreviated as LPB HAGL) following a comprehensive partnership between HAGL Group and LPBank in October 2023. Football played a crucial role in this partnership, leading to the addition of LPBank to the club’s name.

Additionally, HAGL and LPBank collaborated on the HAGL Football Academy. Renowned as Vietnam’s premier football academy, it was rebranded to LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Academy, a change that drew significant attention from fans.

According to Saostar, the LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Academy will retain its current name, continuing to include LPBank.

In other news, another V.League club has applied for a name change. MerryLand Quy Nhon Binh Dinh Club will be renamed Quy Nhon Binh Dinh for the upcoming season. This team, known for its frequent name changes, was previously called TopenLand Binh Dinh before becoming MerryLand Quy Nhon Binh Dinh.

“The Quy Nhon Binh Dinh Club expresses gratitude to the main sponsor MerryLand Quy Nhon and other sponsors for their support. From this season onwards, MerryLand Quy Nhon will no longer be the primary sponsor but will continue to support the team alongside other sponsors,” the club announced.

Name changes are common in Vietnamese football, typically driven by main sponsorship deals. Most businesses entering the football scene seek to attach their names for promotional purposes, leading to frequent renaming of clubs as sponsors come and go.
