Are More People Arrested Near the Holidays?

While the holidays bring wonderful spirits and a magical feeling that reunites people with their families, it also increases arrests. Christmas time is such a busy time, and there is always so much going on, which leads many people to believe that most of their crimes will stay under the radar and go unnoticed. This may come as a surprise to some people as this is the season of giving and loving. But it is true; here are some of the most common reasons why people are getting arrested more during the holiday season and what you can do to avoid them.

Shoplifting is the most common reason more people are getting arrested during the holidays. As I mentioned before, people know that with the holiday times, a lot of stores become very busy and they have long lines; this leads many people to believe that their crime will go under the radar a lot easier and that they can get away with this. Also, as this is the time of the giving, there may be that one special gift they want to get for someone but just can’t quite afford it so they decide to try shoplifting out to see if they can get away with it. But just know, with all of the technology that has evolved over the years, your chances of getting away with shoplifting are slim. Even if the security doesn’t notice it, most stores have alarms by the doors that will go off when you try to take something outside the store without buying it Result.

Along with the holidays come a lot of parties, this goes for both children and adults. The holiday season is when most tickets for DUI are given to people. If it is your first time getting caught with alcohol in your system, you will probably just be given a ticket, but if you have a child or another person in the car, this will increase your chances of getting arrested. Or if you have already had two offenses on your record, this could also result in you getting arrested. Overall, if you plan to attend parties that only adults will attend, don’t take your car in the first place. Take an uber or taxi to get there, even if you don’t plan to drink; paying for the uber will be much cheaper than paying for an attorney or whatever ticket you will be given.

Cyber Crimes

In recent times, online shopping has become very popular and is something that just about everyone does. Especially around the holidays. It is an easy way to find what you are looking for, plus you get it delivered straight to your doorstep. However, there is also a rise in cyber crimes. Even more around the holiday season, you will find and see more scams than usual. Whether it is to get you to buy something and steal your credit card information or your identity, you have to make sure you only shop on stores you are familiar with and trust. Also, if you have ever been on the other side of scams or are thinking about trying to scam for some “easy money,” realize that it is a lot harder to get away with things online, and even if you delete everything from your end, you will still have digital footprints left behind you.

Package Theives

Another crime that we see a rise in is package thieves. Again, around the holidays, people find it a lot harder to find what they are looking for at an affordable price, and they will try and do things like steal packages for some extra cash and help afford what they are trying to buy. Also, when someone is covered head to toe with clothing, it looks much less suspicious when it is cold outside than when it is hot, like in the summer seasons. So, when you are getting packages delivered to your house, ensure you bring them into your home immediately and also try getting a camera doorbell; this will help you find your package if something ever happens to you.

If you ever find yourself or a loved one in a situation where you are arrested and want to find bail bonds, find a trustworthy company to help you escape any sticky situation.
